If you're a landscaper, a contractor or one of a multitude of other types of professions, you need a truck that can carry your supplies from site to site. Ideally, you want storage solutions built into your truck that can help you stay organized while also allowing you to bring as many tools to your site as possible. Here are some components you may want to consider.
1. Divider Compartment
A divider compartment is an optional compartment on the side of your truck. This can consist of a range of different storage spaces depending on what you need. For instance, you can opt for a cabinet with movable shelves, pull-out drawers, built-in tool boxes and more.
To make your truck even more versatile, you may want a removable compartment so that you can take this section out and have access to a larger truck bed as needed.
2. Tool Drawers
This is essentially a small dresser on the side of your truck that may or may not be integrated with a divider compartment. To maximize your usable space, you may want to opt for drawers with built-in compartments. This allows you to categorize different types of hardware or other small bits and bobs.
To allow for extra work space, you may want a tray as well. Instead of having a flat top over your drawers, a tray has edges so you can place tools on it without worrying about them sliding off. You can also opt for a telescoping tray. This is a tray which is attached to telescoping arms that allow you to move the tray to the level you need to work with it.
3. Adjustable Shelving
In lieu of pull-out drawers, you may just want a cabinet with adjustable shelving. If you need space for large power tools, hoses or similar larger objects, shelves may be better for you. When you opt for adjustable shelves, you can move them around as your needs change.
4. Pipe Holders, Glass Racks and Ladder Racks
If you carry a lot of PVC pipes, metal plumbing pipes or other types of pipework, you don't want them rolling around in your truck and potentially falling out. To prevent that from happening, you may want to invest in a pipe holder.
Additionally, you can also invest in ladder racks. These racks are similar to canoe racks on cars. They allow you to position your ladders so that they are over the rest of your cargo. This frees up space in the main area of your truck bed and helps prevent your ladders from getting damaged by other items.
Finally, glass racks are an essential for anyone who puts in showers, windows or anything else that involves large plates of glass. These racks fit onto the side of a truck or a van, and they cushion the racks so that they don't break as you drive from site to site.
5. Conduit Boxes
If you bring a lot of electrical conduit to your work sites, you may also need a conduit box. This is a special box designed to hold pieces of conduit and stop them from rolling around your truck and getting lost or damaged. You can even get conduit boxes that lock. With the high price of copper these days, that can be especially useful if you carry around a lot of copper conduit.
