Your truck serves an important purpose and goes through a lot on the road. Proper care for the truck is necessary to maintain its physical appearance and enhance overall performance. Regularly cleaning your truck is an excellent way to take care of it. Discover how you can clean your truck correctly.

1. Always Clean in Cooler Temperatures

You probably prefer to clean your truck at any time or whenever you're not busy. However, don't clean your truck in the afternoon since the higher temperatures may not be ideal for a hot engine. Instead, wait until the temperature drops and the vehicle cools before you clean. Therefore, the best time to wash your truck is either in the early morning or late afternoon.

2. Pre-Rinse

To pre-rinse your truck, use low-pressure water to avoid scratching the truck. Also, use power washers for the engine undercarriage and the wheels. Although the water should have low pressure, ensure you use a lot of water to prevent grime from scratching the truck body. Using a lot of water lets the soap lather up and properly clean the vehicle.

3. Use a Washing Mitt and Shampoo

Use a shampoo or washing mitt appropriate for your truck's paint type. The wrong cleaning substance may damage and peel off the sealant. For the wheels, select a cleaner that won't cause corrosion to the metal. In most cases, soft brushes are enough to wash the truck.

4. Sweep the Truck Bed

The truck bed is another section of the truck that requires extensive cleaning. Because the bed often serves as a store for items in the truck, some dirt and debris may be on the bed.

Use a broomstick to get rid of any dirt and debris that is visible to you. However, take measures to protect your mouth and eyes from dirt and debris as you sweep the truck bed.

Once you remove all visible dirt on the bed, do a proper cleaning. The best way to clean the bed is to use a pressure washer for rinsing. However, don't use high water pressure, as this can destroy the truck bed's exterior. After cleaning, rinse the bed thoroughly.

5. Use Touchless Cleaning

You can wash your truck without touching it if you have the right chemicals. The touchless cleaning typically happens when you pressure wash the exterior of your truck to remove large dirt particles. Always remember to use the right pH for the cleaning solution.

Focus on a specific section and spray an alkaline detergent on that surface. Begin from the bottom and move to the top while spraying the detergent using a foamer. Wait for a bit to let the solution settle in, but don't let the chemical dry on the truck's body. You can then use warm water to pressure spray the truck. This time, begin from the top and move towards the bottom.

6. Wash the Wheels and Tires

Wash the wheels and tires first before you move to the paint finish. This prevents the paint from becoming dirty again when you wash the tires and wheels.

You can use an all-wheel cleaner for a quick cleaning job. A soft brush can also help eliminate dust and dirt from the brakes.

7. Dry the Exterior

After washing all parts of the truck, dry your vehicle. Since this process can take a lot of time, you may need some tools to make it happen quicker. For example, you can use pressurized air or a leaf blower to dry the entire truck quickly. Once the vehicle has dried, remove any remaining water with the help of a microfiber towel.
